Osama Bin Laden Dead: The United States waits anxiously for President Obama’s upcoming announcement about the death of Osama Bin Laden. Apparently he has been dead for a week, however the announcement was delayed until DNA testing could confirm with certainty that the body in US possession was actually the terrorist Osama Bin Laden. Bin Laden was the mastermind and architect behind the 9/11 attacks which claimed more than three thousand innocent lives in the United States. He has been responsible for thousands of lives around the world, and has been carrying out terror attacks around the globe as he evaded capture by the United States for nearly a decade. He was one of the most powerful leaders of Al Qaeda.
Speculation has begun as to how this will affect the current conflicts in the middle east, with some wondering if there will be attempts of revenge by Bin Laden’s followers, or a massive uprising of his enemies against the Al Qaeda forces. The President is expected to make a public announcement any moment with more details into Bin Laden’s death.
We can only imagine the mixed emotions that are being experienced by the survivors of those who died on 9/11, who surely feel that Osama Bin Laden met with a just end, even if this justice was not as swift as we would have liked. However if you listen carefully, you can hear the collective sigh of relief being released around the world, and especially here in the United States. One of the most diabolical faces of terror will no longer plague the people of the United States, or the world.
