I bought an HTC Thunderbolt to replace my iPhone 4 because of the things I was hearing from other Thunderbolt owners and after checking one out a friend of mine had. There are tons of great features, but I am just going to list the top 5 ways my HTC Thunderbolt whips my iPhone 4.
The Thunderbolt’s is 5 to 10 Times Faster Than My iPhone 4
I am not exaggerating here. The HTC Thunderbolt 4G was actually tested in an independent test by PCWorld, and logged the fastest time ever recorded for a smartphone. Read that sentence again, and you will realize just how quick the Android OS works on the Verizon LTE 4G network. The iPhone 4 isn’t slow, but this is no contest, it is so noticeably a day and night comparison.
The Android Web Browser Rocks With Flash – Apple Safari Not So Much
Seeing websites, videos and games in all their Flash-supported glory will never be available on any Apple product thanks to Steve Jobs’ weird, unsubstantiated Flash-hate. The iPhone 4 Safari browser is okay, but it isn’t great. The Android 2.2 Froyo OS browser allows you to open sites in full or mobile mode, and you can make personal preferences without switching back and forth to the Settings App. That is not true with the iOS.
The Thunderbolt Keyboard and Texting is Miles Ahead of Similar iOS Keyboard Apps
Apple has not really changed the keyboard and user interface for text and data entry on the iPhone much since the original iPhone in 2007. And I never thought is was sub-par until I used the HTC Thunderbolt. The combination of SWYPE input and keyboard choice is awesome. And Nuance’s FlexT9 keyboard app adds voice input works in any text entry are you find yourself. The iOS has access to a voice-activated Nuance app, but the iOS handles it extremely poorly. With Nuance’s Android-friendly FlexT9 app, you can type, tap, talk or draw.

Android Gmail Stomps Apple iOS Mail App
Gmail is made by Google. The Android 2.2 OS in the Thunderbolt is made by Google, and the marriage makes for a super smooth operation. The Apple iOS email is old-fashioned and clunky. I never liked it. But with the Gmail app running on a Google made OS, there are so many extra features. Sorting mail, reading and writing is 10 times faster with labels, stars and a Priority Inbox feature that cuts my email handling in half by itself.
The Android Notification System Kills The iPhone Notification System
My Thunderbolt intuitively sends more important notifications and alerts to to top of my list, and less relevant ones lower. On my old iPhone 4 and other iOS devices I have used, alerts never seem to last long, and routing alerts are given the same weight as more important ones. They also don’t last as long on the iOS, so if you don’t get to them quickly, they’re gone, and you might miss something important. Different notification icons appear at the top of every screen as soon as a new alert is received, so I can tell exactly what notification type just arrived, and deal with it accordingly.
Believe me, I am not saying the iPhone 4 is a bad phone, but up against the HTC Thunderbolt, it is the second best in every way. And the Verizon LTE 4G network just screams. I have used them both, and the Thunderbolt is far and away the better phone. Check it out yourself.

Johnnythe iPhone 4 is a dinosaur that can’t stand up to any of the android phones coming out in the market. The bolt is an amazing phone but even it is going to get leapfrogged very soon with the release of the galaxy s2 and bionic. It’s almost not even a fair comparison anymore, the iphone is an old phone. Apple needs to really impress people with the iphone5 because no one wants to stay with last year’s model anymore.
